In reply to Jenny Hansen. And when you're ready, I'll be there to help! Even authors who have agents or attorneys tend to do better, long term, when they have at least a basic understanding of contract terms. That way, you know right off the bat if something's amiss. It's even more important now, when so many authors are signing with smaller presses and don't have agents to negotiate the deal.
