Great post, Ann! There are no shortcuts and there's no magic wand. Authors need to do their due-diligence, ask the right questions, buckle down to do the work, and never lose sight of their objective.

They spend a lot of money and hope. I'm all about information and data and taking the time but I've also made a lot of mistakes a long the way!

Thanks for this wonderful post, Ann. I've only gotten a little bit behind the curtain, and what I've seen there, frightens me. Some offer services meaning to truly help authors (and make money, of course. Can't forget the $), but are woefully unqualified. Others are looking for easy chum. Don't be chum, people!

In reply to thefifthsemesterblog. No, I'm actually from South Carolina. I grew up in a small town located at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We lived just outside the town and the pasture was located over a hill behind our house. Glad to know you can appreciate one of nature's most serene settings. Glad to see you strolling through my little pasture.
