Fae, you did your job very well! I think a large part of what we have to do is find connections, things that link us and our writing to the (so-called) real world. Your essay was outstanding, made me think of the relationships between all art forms, all creativity. The effort of making something, whether from a blob of glass (I can't imagine holding it in my hand with only a piece of paper) or from a blank page is important, maybe all-important. Anyway, thanks for a great, thoughtful post.

Fae, like many of the posts on WITS, this one got me thinking. Nice job! But, hmmm. Now how do I relate it to my work? This essay (I don't like calling it a blog because that could be "I went to the supermarket and they were out of Friskies) will have me pondering. i think -- hope -- that means I'm figuring something out.

Wow!! I have to come visit you and your vase. That thing is amazing. Ever since I read a book where the main character was a glass artist, I've wanted to try this. Next time I'm in Cambria, I'm visiting!

In reply to littlemissw. Thanks, littlemissw. As I watched my friends during their lessons, I realized how glass-blowers have options just like writers. As authors we make critical determinations at certain points in our stories, and glass-blowers make critical decisions at special points in their creative process, too. Thanks for your kind words.
