I'll ask Holmes if we can't come up with an article about fight scenes. I'll be seeing DD later this month, so the two of us will be able to demonstrate and take pictures.

One of my favorite conversations with him during the course of our writing was when I asked him what our protag, John Viera, would do if he were being followed through a Pakistani market by two thugs. "First he'd lead them down a side street. Then he'd shoot the one closest to him in the head and grab the other from behind. Then he would XXXXX his XXXXX and XXXXX his XXXXX and say XXXXXXXX while he bleeds from his XXXXXX and he would finish off the guy by XXXXXXXXX."

Me: *closes gaping mouth* "I think we might need to soften that a bit for the readers."

Holmes: *startles, aghast* "Softer than that?"

I <3 my Holmes. :)

Okay, so now I want to write spies. Or bad guys with entourages. Can you write about fight scenes next? I am positive Holmes has like 92 ways to kill someone with his bare hands and the various sundries in his pockets. (What IS in a spy's pockets?) I want to hear about the 10 ways a mildly trained civilian can get in on that action. That would be awesome for cozy mysteries. :-)

Pinkerton operatives would absolutely have used these techniques. Your challenge is to have them blend in the smaller environments. I'd think they'd need a servant and someone of a higher class so they could blend wherever needed.
