Anything that happens in real life is "legal" for your story, Debbie. I used to be "plot driven" but I'm coming around to the idea that stories are driven by character actions and feelings. Harder for me, personally, to write, but I think it's a much more powerful approach.

Thanks, Jacque! Even though our secondary characters don't get POV time, they impact our main characters through action and feelings. I used to "garage" them, then let those friends, relatives, and co-workers out when I needed them. Not good for the story.
