It helps to explain about cutting unnecessary scenes and when one should and (maybe) should not.
As writers we are so often given a 'rule' with nothing more. 'Kill your darlings', 'The road to hell is paved with adverbs', 'decide who is your perfect reader' etc. But more often than not, these so-called rules are not explained.
Many thanks for explaining at least one of them.
